“全国情趣用品市场规模也就在50个亿左右，并没有传言中几百个亿那么夸张。”
趣网创始人王伟民是个实在人，在创投界将情趣用品市场吹捧上天时，他不愿意去制造“泡沫”，他觉得市场确实只有这么大。在情趣用品电商创业者中，王伟民绝对算是元老，更是为数不多的坚挺到最后的人之一，从2006年创立了情趣用品电商网站，此后历经波折，如今旗下“趣网”是中国最大的B2C独立情趣用品电商平台，年营业额突破一个亿。
尽管从事情趣用品电商这个行业，可是王伟民确实没有那么多“情趣”，尤其是和马佳佳这样的业内名人比起来。
2012年，马佳佳以大胆、劲爆、无节操的风格闯入创业圈，一时博得大众眼球，情趣用品这个行业也第一次站上了台面，受到了万众瞩目。然而，雷声大雨点小，情趣用品创业“勃起”者众多，“早泄”者却更是不少，“坚挺”到最后的寥寥无几。
看似热闹的情趣用品电商，背后的生存其实并不容易。
早熟的情趣用品电商
王伟民的情趣用品电商初体验是在2006年，当时的想法也很简单：寻找一个赚钱的项目。彼时，淘宝成立三年，中国的电子商务刚刚起步，所谓的“垂直电商”更是远未形成。但是，由于情趣用品行业的特殊性，早早催发了情趣用品垂直电商的产生。
十年前，还没有情趣用品的概念，大家更多提起的是“成人用品”。幽暗的巷道，昏黄的灯光，隐蔽的门面外只有“成人用品”四个大字突兀而醒目，这是长久以来大家对性用品市场的印象。因为当时社会思想尚比较保守，人人“谈性色变”，就连买避孕套这样的基本性用品都羞于见人，更不肖说大尺度的其他产品。
“隐秘”一词一度成为情趣用品市场的标签，更是最大的消费痛点，这也是催生情趣用品市场早早诞生了垂直电商的主要原因。
大家不好意思明目张胆去成人用品店消费，而网上购物正好能解决这一痛点，在保证隐私性的同时满足消费需求。趣网创始人王伟民创立情趣用品电商网站时，当时重庆市场已经有四五家“垂直电商”依托线下门店进行销售。但是这些对手们并没有“鸿鹄之志”，只是将其作为线下门店的一个补充。和他们不同，王伟民没有线下门店，全靠网上销售，先是重庆然后四川再是全国市场，不到三个月时间，王伟民的情趣用品电商网站就打开了全国市场，在业内崭露头角。
集体“早泄”
如果不是2008年那场行业洗牌，说不定如今王伟民的情趣事业可以更大更超前。
从2006年成立以来，王伟民的情趣用品网站飞速发展，到了2008年时已经有了近千万的营收。按照当时的发展趋势，加之消费市场日趋成熟，后面的发展空间充满了无穷的想象。然而，2008年的奥运盛会，却为情趣用品电商带来了不利影响。
为了迎接奥运盛会，国家对网络环境进行了清理整顿。由于情趣用品网站含有敏感图片与敏感词汇，也成为了此次的整理对象。总部在北京的某国内最大的情趣用品电商被关站整顿，一批情趣用品网站受影响。在这种形势下，王伟民也暂停了情趣用品电商业务的经营。刚刚勃起的行业，集体早泄。
复盘这一段经历，趣网创始人王伟民认为，尽管最终停业是由于大环境所致，但当时行业发展野蛮也是导致集团“早泄”的重要原因。作为垂直电商平台，其发展受到上游产品供应商制约，当时国内的生产厂家产品多以仿真器具为主，由于形象和人体接近，所以在网络运营推广上受到一定限制。此外，厂家当时的生产工艺水平落后，导致客户满意度不高，这些因素也多少制约了行业发展。
网站停运之后，王伟民并没有放弃，而是在等待机会。在2012年之前，他陆续建立多家垂直类社区网站，依靠“倒卖流量”赚差价，这段时间不仅为后期趣网的复活提供了资金保证，更是为趣网的运营爆发积累了丰富了流量运营经验。
如何“坚挺”？
2012年，马佳佳将情趣用品电商推上了风口浪尖，等待已久的王伟民认为时机到了。于是，他重启了搁置四年的情趣用品电商平台，更名为“趣网”，再次杀入江湖。
凭借此前买卖网站流量的丰富经验，依靠精准的网盟营销，趣网迅速引来了大量的流量，然后凭借团队的运营能力，流量实现高效转化，迅速崛起为行业黑马。
仅仅三年时间，销售额突破一个亿，成为全国最大的B2C独立情趣电商平台。之前丰富的流量变现经验带给了趣网快速的发展，而趣网所打造的几个方面的核心竞争力为其实现快速稳定的发展：
一、产品上，趣网采用了买手制供应链管理模式，每一款产品都是经过买手精心挑选、进行市场测试、最后通过数据反馈获得用户认可的产品才会上架销售；
二、服务上，趣网的物流服务基本上都是采用的顺丰物流，有强大的客服和售后团队，每一个环节都将用户的“隐私性”做到极致；
三、技术上，趣网作为垂直电商需要自建商城，对技术要求较高。趣网有完整专业的技术团队，正在搭建云计算大数据平台，利用数据挖掘用户需求，更好的满足客户。
然而，对于王伟民而言，成也流量，败也流量。
同趣网一样，国内大多数情趣用品电商平台的流量源自网络营销中引来的流量，消费者多是在联盟网站中通过植入的广告点击进入趣网页面购买，而并非主动搜索趣网进入。这就导致，在这一行业中，顾客的复购率低，平台品牌黏性弱，只有靠网络营销不断输血，成了百度的“打工仔”。
流量是情趣用品垂直电商崛起的关键，同样也是制约其发展的瓶颈，而突破点就在于品牌力的提升。如何提升品牌力，摆脱PC网站流量的制约？趣网创始人王伟民在移动互联网中找到了答案。
在传统PC网站，垂直电商的功能只有消费，这是导致消费者对品牌粘性低的重要原因。而在移动互联网，品牌不仅是销售基点，更是话题、娱乐、社交的基点，移动互联网赋予品牌更多的功能，可以与消费者更加深层次的互动。
基于此，趣网今年组建移动开发团队，全力进军移动互联网。截至到目前，趣网有70%左右的销售，由手机下单贡献。在王伟民看来，移动互联网是趣网下一个十年发展的关键，更是情趣电商“坚挺”下去的关键。
