人事档案是我国人事管理制度的一项重要特色，改革开放前，是干部提拨的重要依据。改革开放后，随着国有企业改革，人才流动性扩大，人事档案渐渐淡出了大众视野，可是在有些情况下我们又不得不用到人事档案，因此，有些人对个人人事档案摸不着头脑，到底它还有什么用？以后会不会废除？还要不要管它？
那么，到底什么是人事档案，现今的人事档案到底还有哪些作用？
人事档案是个人身份、学历、资历、组织关系等方面的记录，是证明个人学习经历和工作的文书，具有法律效用，是记载人生轨迹的重要依据。人事档案里有个人各个学习时期、工作时期的资料，譬如入学、毕业、成绩、奖惩、党团等材料，这些都是原始且重要的个人材料，不可复制。
目前，户籍调动、人事关系转移、升学考研、考公务员、职称申报、公务出国政审、生育服务证办理、独生子女证办理、退休手续申办等都需要个人人事档案，特别是在中央企业、国有企业、事业单位，人事档案为员工入职的重要材料之一。
下面，我们通过几个案例来看看人事档案到底还有没有用。
?案例之一
李某即将到退休年龄，目前工作的企业给其申请办理退休手续，需要先在社保中心提出申请，审核李某的人事档案。发现李某有段经历是在某事业单位工作，这段时间未缴纳养老保险，但该事业单位未做工龄核定。所以退休审批未通过，需要补齐相关手续。
李某找到原单位的人事负责人，把那段工作时间开具了工龄认定表，这才成功的办理了退休审批，拿到了退休金。但由于补办这些手续花了不少时间，导致退休金晚享受了两个月。
?案例之二
张某结婚不久后，妻子怀孕了，要去某医院建档定期产检。该医院要求张某的妻子需提供生育服务证并且在规定的孕周内才能建档。妻子的孕周数即将超过医院的要求范围，于是张某马上联系相关机构办理生育服务证，找到户籍所在地街道办事处，街道办要求其存档单位出具相应证明才予以办理。
但张某在大学毕业后档案一直放在自己手里，没有存档单位，经过周折，才将档案存到户籍所在地的人才机构，但办理完相关证明后，其爱人的孕周数超过医院的要求，导致其爱人不能在理想的医院建档，只得换了一家离家较远要求较宽松的医院。
?案例之三
王某报考了公务员，过五关斩六将，过了笔试，然后在面试中突出重围，榜上有名，但在后期的档案政审中被淘汰，原因是部分学籍档案遗失，与公务员职位失之交臂。
从以上案例可见档案的重要性，户籍调动、人事关系转移、升学考研、考公务员、职称申报、公务出国政审、生育服务证办理、独生子女证办理、退休手续申办都需要完整的人事档案，现今体制下，人才的流动性很大，但是人生的大部分经历都记录在个人人事档案中，拥有完整的人事档案需要员工和公司双方面的共同重视。
