一位刚毕业的女大学生到一家公司应聘财务会计工作。面试时，因为公司想招聘具有丰富工作经验的资深会计人员，所以女大学生立即遭到拒绝。
但她并没有因此灰心离开，她诚恳的对主考官说：“请再给我一次机会，让我参加完笔试”。
主考官拗不过她，就让她参加了笔试，结果，她很顺利地通过了笔试。最后，由人事经理亲自复试。
由于这位女大学生的笔试成绩最好，所以人事经理对她颇有好感。但是，女大学生说自己没有工作经验，唯一的会计经验是在学校掌管过学生会财务，这让人事经理有些失望，毕竟他们需要的是有经验的财务会计。
不得已，人事经理只要对她说：“今天就面试到这里，如果有消息，我会打电话通知你”。
女大学生从座位上站了起来，向人事经理点了点头，并从口袋里掏出一元双手递给人事经理：“不管我是否被录用，都请您都给我打个电话”。人事经理从来没有见过这种情况，一下子呆住了，不过他很快回过神来问：“你怎么知道我们就不给没有录取的人打电话呢？”
“您刚才自己说了，有消息就打，那言下之意就是没录取就不打了”。人事经理似乎对这个年轻的女大学生产生了浓厚的兴趣，又问：“如果你没被录取，我打电话的话，你想知道些什么呢？”
“请告诉我，在什么地方我不能达到公司的要求，我在哪方面不够好，我好改进”。
“那一元……”还没等人事经理说完，女大学生微笑的解释说：“给没有被录取的人打电话不属于公司的正常开支，所以应该由我来付电话费，请您一定打”。
人事经理马上微笑的说：“请你把一元收回。我不会打电话了，因为我现在就正式通知你，你被录取了，明天就可以来上班”。就这样，女大学生用一元敲开了机遇大门。
启示：一开始，女大学生就被拒绝，如果她没有坚毅的性格，没有诚信的表现，没有敢于承担责任的上进心，没有公私分明的品德，她就不可能得到人事经理的认可。她的一切表现，让人事经理觉得她具备财务人员该有的品行，所以破例录取了她。
不论我们要做什么，都要把握适当的分寸和尺度，一旦错过了最好的时机，我们可能一无所得。所以，不是所有的拒绝都把我们拒之千里之外，不是所有的拒绝都否认我们原本的能力和实力，拒绝是在考验我们，也在成熟我们的心志，甚至也在暗示我们有更大的峰回路转的机会。
