经常有问我，「怎么进BAT这样的大公司」，「去小公司了是不是就没有机会跳到BAT了」，还有「第一份工作去小公司了是不是就输在起跑线了」，我的经历或许能给有类似问题的人一些参考。
这些问题集中反应的是在入行之初的「焦虑」，尤其是焦虑自己的成长太慢，这份焦虑往往会伴随一个人很久。
我也曾有这样的经历，当年走校招渠道第一份工作去的是金山，而且base在珠海，一个全市总人口只有150万的经济特区。我的焦虑正是来源于珠海这座城市给我带来的舒适感与安逸，这座城市比武汉更适合生活，但却不怎么适合工作，尤其是互联网行业，主要是和外界缺乏交流，我觉得我还是很喜欢和业内的同学一起交流的。
珠海这座城市被外人知道的只有三家公司，一家做软件的叫金山，一家做硬件的叫魅族，还有一家做制造业的叫格力。所以我当年的同事想跳槽就得考虑去广州or深圳，或者像我这样的直接来两千公里以外的帝都，珠海的创业公司也有几家，也都是老金山人出去做的。当时招我进去的直属leader在金山工作了十多年，从毕业后就来到金山，现在还在，目前预期范围内未来还会一直在金山。一辈子只工作于一家公司，除了雷布斯这种金山灵魂人物之外，我觉得这是一种可怕的事情，毕竟这不是上一辈那种有编制吃国家财政饭的单位，这是一家企业。
当时的我很焦虑，我也想跑得快一些，我害怕一直做重复性的工作，我想知道这个行业其他的人都走到哪一步了？所以后来我从珠海金山离职来了北京，一直到现在。
现在回想起来，在金山的这第一份工作经历其实教会我很多。上周我还和我当时的leader在QQ上聊，我说当时的我的确太年轻了，很焦虑很着急，急着想去看更大的世界，但忘了金山是一家很务实的公司，大家都是踏踏实实做项目，而外面的世界很精彩，也很浮躁。
我想说的是，受经历和视野限制，当下的工作，哪怕是重复性做同一件事，你可能不知道到底学到了什么。但等到有一天，经历的多了，再来看之前做过的项目，会悟出来很多受益匪浅的方法论和技能，但需要主动去悟，而不是等着别人来告诉你什么。
其实大公司和小公司并不是完全的对立面，现在很多创业公司都是从BAT出来自己单干的啊，长期文化熏陶，难免会把大公司那一套做事习惯、思维方式以及价值观带到小公司里，不然怎么业内会有腾讯系、百度系、金山系等等，因为大家的价值观类似啊。
大家刻板印象里的这些弊端问题的确存在：
大公司里：内耗严重，层级多，跨部门项目推动起来困难，凡事都要写PPT，流程太多。
小公司里：瞎指挥、杂事多、领导决策的随意性大，同事的能力水平参差不齐。
但是，别忘了下面两句话。
有人的地方就有江湖，永远不要迷信只要去了一家小公司就能得到充足的发挥空间，别以为去了小公司就能成为鸡头，或许你身边都是一群鸭。
同样，在大公司里也有一些很优秀的项目和团队值得加入，站在巨人的肩膀上借助平台力量做更多有意义的事情。
所以，大公司与小公司的平台在个人成长上的意义并没有极端偏向哪一边，它并不是决定能力成长的变量。
真正决定能力成长的是这样两个变量：Project+Mentor
Project（项目）
白崎一直坚信一个好的项目能给人带来的成长远比公司大得多。如果能赶上2003年-2005年左右的百度搜索项目，2011年-2014年左右的微信项目，2012年左右的小米手机项目，搭上这种行业明星产品的快车，和好项目一起快速成长才是最好的机会。当然绝大部分人没有这样的机会，反而会做一些短视的选择，比如现在去360的搜索项目，阿里的来往项目，XX的电商项目，我就想说有什么好做的，在老板心血来潮玩票的业务里，整天研究怎么抄和模仿，无非是能多拿些薪水，但能给自己带来多大的成长？小公司里有好项目也有坏项目，大公司里同样是这样。与其去纠结到底是选大公司还是小公司，倒不如认真思考项目的前景。
选择什么项目，那就看你对项目的判断能力和个人定位了。过去两年行业泡沫多的时候，真是什么样的项目都有。作为产品经理，洞察力是第一项的基础能力要求，把项目判断作为自己的产品sense锻炼也不错啊。当然不好的项目都撑不过这个冬天，能熬到明年春天的，绝对差不到哪儿去，这也算是一个判断标准吧。行业新人比如应届生不知道如何判断的时候可以在知乎上提问，或者找有一定资历的人帮忙参考。
相比之下，我个人认为新项目的挑战性更大，会有更多乐趣和可尝试的余地。如果让我去百度做搜索项目？我铁定不去，都这么成熟了还能玩出什么新花样啊，无非是在既定的框架下做重复性的所谓微创新。但是我认为有戏的新项目，我就拒了其他家直接来了。
Mentor（导师）
在学习成长期，我认为Mentor的水平其实是你的成长上限。这个Mentor可以是直属上级，也可以是公司里的某个牛逼同事。在入行之初，或者经验不甚丰富的时候，Mentor往往是自己的标杆，你会照着他的样子去学。如果你遇到一个很low的Mentor，千万不要浪费时间耗下去。如果遇到一个能力很棒，愿意教人的Mentor，一定抱住大腿好好学。我当年的第一个Mentor，在活动运营方面让我学习到很多，至今受益匪浅。
当有一天你认为Mentor已经不能给你指导了，也就是翅膀够硬了，就大胆飞出去吧，去找一个可以自己独立发挥的地方。
所以，如果在毕业时如果进不了大公司，不要焦虑，不要去跟同学比谁拿的offer多薪水高这些面子上的东西，认真去判断你要去的项目自己是否认可，是否有前景，能让你发挥什么样的角色，这才是关键。那些一毕业就去大公司的人，或许他们在里面学会的只是「写PPT向领导汇报」和「撕逼」这样的技能。
在小公司里，理想中的状态是可尝试的机会多，自由度高，但也要特别注意防止跑偏方向。有些小公司PM，天天盯着交互视觉和按钮放哪儿，这哪儿是产品经理，就是个挂着PM头衔的交互设计师或者Feature Manager，离真正的产品经理差得远多了。
最近就有一位在小公司工作的同学给我微信后台留言说「老板看了增长黑客这本书，让我们也来寻找不花一分钱实现快速拉来X万新用户的目标，感觉无从下手」。增长黑客，理念很好但为什么落地实施很难，待我改天再专门写一篇文章来聊。
不管在哪儿，不断学习和自我成长才是最重要的。这个行业变化这么快，不怕起跑线的输赢，因为终点还很远，只怕路上掉队很远了而自己却不知道。
