如果有机会开创你梦想中的那份工作，你知道是怎么样的吗？为了培养优势，每天你会怎么做？与谁共进退？夜幕降临归家后，何以为豪？
当人们来我这里寻求指导时，很容易就能列出工作中所有不喜欢做的事，但当我问到他们想要的工作是什么样时，大多数人一脸茫然，然后但他们开始认识到自己的前进方向时，通常会回答“更大、更快、更强”，但正如约翰·菲茨杰拉德·肯尼迪总统所说：如果没有目的和方向的话，只有努力和勇气是不够的。
当说到开创你喜欢的事业时，研究表明，人们应该创作一幅生动的蓝图，将优势全部概括进去，勾勒将来的模样，但这个方法为什么比秘密进行更加科学呢？
越来越多的证据表明，积极的印象通常会使我们做出积极的举动，就像创造正向改变的国际资深研究员——大卫·库柏里德教授教我的那样：正面形象会带给我们新的可能性，让我们充满希望，从而找到解决方法，它们让我们意识到我们有能力达成心愿。
那么它是如何产生效果的呢？光是想想得到期盼已久的东西这种奖赏心理就已经让我们雀跃不已（多巴胺飙升）了，通过大脑中关键的神经通路，多巴胺这一大脑兴奋剂会让我们从想法变为行动。
例如，几十年以来，4分钟1英里的速度是奔跑者的自然极限，再快的速度会令人感到不可思议，当时英国运动员罗杰·班尼斯特给自己设定了一个不可能完成的目标，并根据这一目标适时调整训练步伐，到1954年5月1日，他在牛津大学一条跑道上打破了这一纪录，不出三年，又有16位奔跑者超越了这一人类极限，人类进化史中没有什么基本的跳跃发展，唯一有改变的就是他们想象无限可能的能力。
正面形象可以让我们展开积极的行动，或许这就是为什么阿尔伯特·爱因斯坦提出的这句话会名声大噪了：想象比知识更重要。这样也阐明了积极心理学创立者，马丁·塞利格曼教授最近的提议，即智力不是你了解的那样，它关乎着你憧憬未来的方式及如何将假设转化为行动。
那么，到现在为止，你是否清楚自己蓄势待发的未来模样了呢？
首先，有助于了解在工作中展现优势所用的受人尊敬、得到重视的那些方法。
回想你确实投身其中、激情满满、似乎很享受你的工作的那些时候，每个过程都会体现出你的优点。
第二，抽出一些时间考虑你想要的未来是怎样的，为什么要这样的未来？
你会发现研究表明成长、联络、贡献都与“目的目标”有关，而不是所谓的与钱、权利和人气有关的“利益目标”。前者不仅会让我们感到更满足、更自信，也会提高我们的幸福指数。所以，除了挣钱这一需求以外，你的工作动力是什么？什么让你感到满足、或达到了目标？让你一大早从床上爬起来的原因是什么？
最后，静静地坐下来，准备好纸和笔，选出将来的一个时间节点——可以是6个月、1年、3年或更长，这取决于你能规划的未来有多远——试想一下，如果生活中事事顺心、而你本身也充分发挥优势创造出让目标成为现实的那种生活，那个时候生活是什么样的，动笔尽可能生动描绘下来这幅画面吧。

·你感觉如何？
·人们对你有所作为的看法如何？
·你周围的世界看起来是否不同了？
试着抽出15或20分钟把这些列出来，作为一种意识流练习。先别妄下判断，也别现在就回答，就让它自然而然的发展，你会发现这张纸会引导你慢慢走完所有的步伐。
创建这个练习的研究员劳拉·金建议道，连续三天重复这个联系，第一天你会发现自己能草率说出那些显而易见的想法，第二天你开始慢慢走出自己掌控之下的形态，第三天你会发现你曾经敢于冒出的那些想法只能在你内心深处悄悄诉说了。
