左志坚写了一篇题为《创业是中国社会最后的阶层上升通道》的文章，大部分表述我都认同，不过把创业和阶层上升联系在一起，可供讨论的东西就多了。左是我的老朋友，在他创办“拇指阅读”之前，我们就有来往，他对新闻和商业的理解一直让我赞赏，有了创业经历之后，相信他有更丰富的体悟，才会花费时间来写作论及在社会结构固化背景下，阶层流动的忧虑和出路。
不过因为观察社会的视角不同，对创业和社会流动之间的关系，我还是有些不同看法，写出来请读者批评。
过去一两年，在很多社会圈层中，创业成为一种风潮。这种创业风潮有来自政策层的暖风，在原有经济发展模式逐渐失去动能，投资效率递减的背景下，决策层急于鼓励创新，希望创新成为经济发展引擎，做大增量，甚至提出全民创业，万众创新的口号。相应的是各种各样的政府创业引导基金，形形色色的创业孵化园等等。
催化这股创业潮流的，还有所谓成功者的故事，比如那些快速登陆纳斯达克的企业，那些创始人变成亿万富豪的励志故事。而资本市场热潮背后，也可以追溯到前些年的世界经济格局，尤其是美联储的定量宽松政策和中国央行的货币宽松政策，都释放了大量的流动性，导致市场资金成本极低，激励着投资经理们以更激进的姿态在创业市场烧钱。
我对创业者充满敬意，但对创业和成功之间的关联却相当悲观，正如左志坚提到的，创业是一个九死一生、成功率极低的行当，在创业成为潮流的社会氛围下，多泼一点凉水是必要的。
创业的本质决定了这是成功率极低的一个选择。创业者必须有更深刻的市场敏感性，必须面对更多的不确定性，创业过程必须冒更多的风险，创业者需要更多的资源储备，创业总是为少数人准备的游戏，而不可能是大众化的行为模式。从投资回报的行业比较而言，即使是那些顶尖的享有盛誉的创业投资机构或投资家，其长期净资产回报率并不比很多行业更高。
人们容易被那些耀眼的成功故事所吸引，成功者往往也有更广泛的传播能力，而失败者往往牙齿被打断也要往肚子里吞，无处话凄凉，失败者的故事人们听不到，也没人听。久而久之，人们会形成某种误会，进而把这些成功故事推而广之，这是一种典型的社会心理偏差。事实上，很多富豪们的创业故事，只是成功者事后编制的剧本，而不是真实的进程。李嘉诚的第一桶金，王石的创业故事，读起来都让人兴味盎然，但如果某个创业者真的相信那些故事了，那么他／她显然对社会过程还缺乏洞见。
在一个社会，励志故事需要复制和传承，激励更多人的学习能力，创造能力，但是一旦政府介入这个领域，并且希望通过这些措施，来刺激经济发展，那肯定是形迹可疑的选项。从社会视角来观察，创业并不仅仅依靠特定个体的天赋或者能力，而是和教育体系、文化传承、知识产权保护都机制息息相关，客观的检视中国的教育质量、创业环境、知识产权保护机制，其实对创业者都不算友好，政府设立的所谓创新孵化基地、创业支持机制等，大部分都走样了。从深层次来理解创业，其实是企业家精神，市场机会和资源的巧妙组合，从现实环境来看，法治基础不健全，社会环境不提供一个稳定的预期，教育不鼓励个性和创新风格，文化上缺乏冒险和对失败的宽容，那么创业和创新都只注定会是一种泡沫化的存在，而不可能在实质意义上成为经济发展的引擎。
正如知名投资家阎炎所指出的，创业永远是少数人的事，创业成功更是小概率事件，政府介入鼓励创新，肯定是好心办坏事，也容易导致道德风险。现在很多地方政府一拥而上的做法，完全背离了创业的初衷。
而就中国经济病症而言，如果不对国有经济体系动刀，回避经济结构调整，而寄望通过创新形成增量，从而挽救经济发展颓势的做法，在政治上或许是合理的，但实际效果注定会让人失望。目前的经济结构，不但约束着经济发展，也自然会限制真正有意义的创新，创业者可以阶段性的回避这个障碍，但当企业开始成长，这个障碍就变得绕不过去。
不过我和左志坚文章更重要的分野在于创业和社会流动的关系。创业成功概率如此低，如果只有那些创业成功者才能被认为是阶层上升，那么通过创业这条通道达到阶层上升的目标，自然是极度困难的。这种困难和一般的社会感知是一致的，社会舆论中流行着各种各样的嘲讽，调侃甚至怨恨，反映了社会结构性的不公平，但深究下去，也和社会对成功的认定，对社会精英的标准过于单调有关，社会习惯于按照某种标准对人群进行竖向分级，上层大概对应着政治精英、财富精英或文化精英，下层则被认为是屌丝或者草根，这种社会分层掩盖了很多社会面相，更多反应的是权力主导的社会构建。
站在个人主义的立场，我们首先应该摒弃的就是这种对社会精英的扁平化定义，这种对社会精英的扁平化定义，是十分粗暴和落后的，牺牲了一个社会应有的多元维度，和我们的真实生活感知并不符合。
就我们的生活经验而言，除了权力精英和财富精英，在众多社会领域，无论是文化的、艺术的或是各种兴趣主导的小众领域，其实都已经有很丰富的面相，有独立的成就评估标准，人们可以自得其乐，形成相对独立的社会空间。这种社会空间，并不需要国家权力的认证，也不需要迎合传统的成功标准，完全可以各玩各的，一个看重自己职业尊严的律师或者教师，站在马云等的面前时，并不需要自矮三分。那些纳税的小型企业主，面对国家权力机构的时候，也可以拥有一份主人翁的傲气。
或许我们应该追问的是，谁是创业者？狭义一点理解，当然是那些创立经济组织，寻求财富的个体，但米塞斯认为，人类所有的行为都具有一定的冒险特征，人人都是企业家，所有人在某种意义上，无论是什么职业，不管你是观念传播者、财富创造者、快乐提供者，其实都是创业者，都在为财富、荣誉、地位等目标而努力，这个过程同样充满不确定性，充满风险，我们都在努力成就自我，这些才是社会流动的应有之义。从这个视角来看，社会并不需要在原有的结构上，反复不断的进行精英再生产或精英循环，而是需要在更多维度进行扩张，精英结构需要的是扩张，而不是通向固有社会结构的天梯，用来描述社会流动的传统框架应该被一种基于个人立场的社会扩展框架来替代。
当然，不管是按照传统框架的社会流动还是个体创业带动的社会扩张，无论是财富精英们还是米塞斯意义上的各种各样的创业者，其实都面临着共同的制度性困境，这种困境使得阶层上升或者个体成就并没有那么真实，并不能确切的转化为自由、尊严和幸福。显然，这才是更根本的一个问题。
