如果说天地壹号的成功带有偶然性，壹号土猪的成功则展现了陈生的商业奇才。在当上“猪肉大王”之前，陈生还当了几年的“鸡头”。当他看到某个品牌的隔水蒸鸡档前排着长长的队伍，不由感叹了一声：“做鸡挺好！”
10月26日，新三板挂牌公司天地壹号公告称：公司拟发行股票数量不超过2500万股，发行价格为25元/股，预计募集金额不超过 6.25 亿元。发行对象为不超过35名新增投资者。
此次定增前，天地壹号的股本已达4.1亿股。
而此次募资后，天地壹号的总股份将达到4.35亿股，按照定增的25元/股计算，其市值将达到108.75亿元。
若按当前30元/股的股价计算，天地壹号的市值更是高达130亿元。而持股超过8成的天地壹号董事长陈生身价则接近100亿元。
不过，陈生的故事还远不止如此。
除了已经在新三板挂牌的天地壹号，陈生还是全国大名鼎鼎的“杀猪佬”，其旗下的另外一个公司，壹号土猪的年销售额已超10亿。按照壹号土猪目前的发展速度，假以时日，必定又是一家市值超百亿的公司。
现在，在新三板领域，陈生的身价只在一人之下，即九鼎投资的董事长吴刚（身家180亿元），问题是，九鼎市值已达千亿，复牌如何还尚属未知。
一个天地壹号积累百亿身家
8月20日成功挂牌后，天地壹号迅速进入状态。
这个状态是融资。
20日挂牌当天，同时还以17.5元/股的价格定向发行股票，募集1.75亿元资金，这些资金的其中一个主要用途便是布局天地壹号O2O。
而两个月后的26日晚间，天地壹号又马不停蹄的公布了第二笔融资预案。
计划以25元/股的价格再次融资6.25亿。
不到两个月，定增价格攀升43%，这个速度恐怕只能在新三板里才能出现。而在刚颁布的胡润百富榜中，九鼎董事长吴刚以180亿元的身家位列120位，陈生现在的理论身家只在吴刚之下。
可就是这样一个价值百亿的品牌却源于一次偶然。
1997年1月，一领导人来湛江视察，在宴席上用雪碧兑陈醋当饮料，很快，“XX一号”风靡广东。当时已经做着白酒生意的陈生突然接到湛江开发区一位领导的电话，对他刚投产的酒厂表示担心：“现在新兴喝醋。”半小时后，他又接到了一位媒体朋友的电话，称在成都喝到一种用雪碧兑陈醋的饮料，口感不错，叫“中南海一号”。
同一天接到两个人从不同的地方打来电话，说到同一件事，难道是机缘巧合？第二天，陈生到调顺岛吃饭时，问服务员要“XX一号”，没想到，服务员问也不问，径直拿了一瓶雪碧和半碗陈醋过来。当晚，陈生就召集生产部经理和副厂长开会，决定要傍一回“大款”，开始了他的卖醋生涯，开发天地壹号。
1997年6月4号，天地壹号试产成功，7月2号正式投产。天地壹号刚上市旋即供不应求，并因其产品的独特性以及健康佐餐特点广受好评。2002年9月12日，广东天地壹号饮料有限公司正式成立，现已发展成为全国最大的醋饮料生产基地，占地面积约100亩，员工1000多人，市场销量和品牌美誉度在全国近200个醋饮料品牌中独占鳌头！产品不但旺销整个广东，还开始出口港澳、东南亚乃至美国，并逐渐向周边省份扩展，每年保持着50%的增长，至今已经占全国醋饮料市场的50%，广东的90%。
第二富的另一面——北大“杀猪佬”
目前，天地壹号目前的股权绝大部分集中在“自己人”手中。
除了持股82.18%的陈生外，两位核心高管王广和张銮也各持有公司5%左右的股份。
另外，天地壹号的员工股权激励平台“天地共富”也持有公司股份146.45万股，占公司股权比例为0.37%。如今这部分股权的价值已达到4500万元。
在未来，这些人的财富会再次随着老板而增长。

随后的几天，陈生闭门谢客，专注思考养鸡问题。
他认为，按现代企业要求做大土鸡养殖规模，一定更有竞争力。
2004年初，“禽流感”肆虐，重创养殖业，陈生却选择寒冬入市，租用东坡荔园的场地养壹号土鸡。面对众多的质疑，他说：“‘禽流感’把我大部分竞争对手清理掉了，入行正逢时。”2005年，壹号土鸡上市，销售额一路飚升。
如同当年做北运菜和房地产一样，陈生总是在产业如日中天时选择撤离。“我选择离开，是因为我控制不了市场终端。鸡养得再好，只能通过鸡贩子卖，一到市场上鱼龙混珠，假冒的土鸡对品牌破坏很大。”
其实，在他准备放弃土鸡的时候，已经有了更好的项目。2006年，他在研究鸡市场时，发现猪肉的市场很大。全国猪肉销售可达1万亿！更让他兴奋的是，这样一个庞大的市场，却偏偏处在个体户杀价血拼的低水平竞争状态。“现在一支几毛钱的铅笔都有品牌，猪肉这么大的市场却没有品牌，从创业的角度看就是一个好方向。”这让陈生越想越带劲。
2006年，他开始养壹号土猪。北大学子养猪，陈生不是第一人。早前他北大的校友陆步轩在西安当街卖猪肉，一度被媒体炒得沸沸扬扬，以至北大校长面对媒体时说：“北大的学生可以卖猪肉，也可以当国家主席。”陈生在电视新闻里听到这句话时，并不以为然：“北大的学生可以卖猪肉，但是不能老在一个档口里卖猪肉，或者说不能老是自己在卖猪肉。要是给我卖猪肉，我一定会卖出点北大水平来。”这回，他能一显身手了。
鉴于养鸡的经验，这次他要牢牢控制市场终端，做一个真正属于自己的成长性品牌。壹号土猪品牌的迅速推广，离不开陈生高超的市场营销，他的模式是：上游抓研发育种，把控品质；中游整合资源，公司+农户，下游控制销售，终端必须牢牢控制在手中。
2007年1月27日，壹号土猪上市，随后，有关“北大学子陈生卖猪肉”、“1500名研究生争当猪肉佬”、“创办中国第一所屠夫学校”等轰炸性的新闻，一次次搅热了全国各大媒体，随着壹号土猪知名度的飙升，壹号土猪的市场逐步被打开，上市第一个月亏70%，第二月亏50%……第13个月开始盈利。连锁加盟店也由今年初的200多个，发展到目前的400多个，分布在广佛深以及湛江等地，并按品牌规划、市场拓展计划不断扩张。
陈生曾这样说道：北大是个大熔炉，从这里走出的自己既激进又保守，只是自己又赶上一个好时代，加上运气好，所以就成了一个“中等水平”的商人。
不过，现在的陈生可没人把她当中等水平的商人，而是真正创业者的偶像。也终于实现了他自己那句：
当然了，发财致富了的陈生，也没忘本。陈生的想法很简单也很朴素：“贫则独善其身，富则兼济天下。”
仅在2010年，陈生自己便出资近2亿元为220户村民每户免费建一套别墅；聘请村民到养猪基地“上班”，按劳动力每户分配500至1000头猪，按标准出栏统一收购，每户年纯收入最高10万元。
