在微信公众号后台收到一个网友的提问：我是个喜欢努力和上进的人，但是我很害怕别人知道我在努力。我发现自己上中学、大学的时候都喜欢自己躲起来默默地努力看书学习。参加工作的第一年，遇到节假日，同事、朋友约我出去玩，我那时正在准备考会计证，想在家里看书，但是不敢和他们说实话，就说自己生病了，没法去。后来同事问我考试准备的怎样，书看的怎样，我撒谎说，自己没怎么看，还特意表现出很轻松很无所谓的样子，天知道我当时为此有多努力，多焦虑。我现在还是很害怕别人知道我在努力，我也害怕别人知道我除了会用功努力外，我其实很笨很蠢。请问，这是怎样一种心理？你能帮助分析一下吗？
看到这个提问，我想到朋友小王和和我说的一个事情。小王有个高中同学叫小E。他是个男生，常常在物理和数学课上睡觉，其他课上他虽然不怎么睡觉，但也不专心听讲，经常找前后座同学讲悄悄话，或者开玩笑，课间休息时间他也在玩耍，看课外书，和其他同学聊天，看到学习很努力的同学，他会说一句：不要这么努力啦，要放松点。因为他的各科成绩都很不错，尤其是物理和数学的成绩常常名列班级前茅，于是，他上课睡觉，不专心等行为表现不仅不是缺点，反而证明了他的聪明。有的同学称他为“睡神”，意思是“睡觉也能考好的大神”，还有的同学说他是“天才”。小王对我说，我也一直这么认为，心里非常佩服他，虽然那时我的学习成绩也很不错，但是我觉得自己是个“书呆子”，不如他聪明。
高考结束后的一次同学聚会上，小E的室友说小E那时候经常晚上打着手电在被窝里看书到深夜一两点钟，或者躲进厕所做自己买来的试题。听到这些，当时的小王震惊不已。
在我们身边，像小E这样的同学有许多，他们外表是一副不求上进、轻松自得的模样，上课不听，自习睡觉，暗地里却发奋图强，努力拼搏，回家背着大家熬夜学习，然后每到考试取得还不错的成绩。
为什么要偷偷地努力？为什么不能让别人知道自己在努力呢？为什么努力不能光明正大，明目张胆呢？
他们这么做的原因多半是为了获得别人的关注、羡慕、认可与崇拜。
我们的社会价值观中，虽然认可一个人的努力，但更偏爱一个人的聪明，比如很多父母、老师都更喜欢聪明的孩子。如果一个人不怎么学，却能考高分，会给人聪明的感觉。而聪明类似一种天生的优势，仿佛如天才一般，显得自己高人一等，与众不同。因此很多孩子在中学时代假装不努力其实是内化了大人的价值观，希望自己获得“聪明”的赞赏，一旦获得，他往往也容易陶醉于或者依赖于这种“聪明”的赞赏，然后持续伪装自己，长此以往，身心俱疲。
为什么会身心俱疲呢？你想想看，在学校里，学生之间在一起的时间是很多的，别人在学习的时候，你要费力假装在玩乐，这会浪费你的很多时间。当别人看不见你的时候，即别人睡觉、休息的时候，你在努力，你努力的时间要么变短了，要么会牺牲了自己休息的时间。如此一来，时间久了，自然身心俱疲。
假装努力的行为是一个人迷失自我的外在表现。如果一个人过分在意别人对自己的评价，过分寻求外界对自己的认可，他就容易为了获得别人的关注和认可而迷失自我。
很多人表面装着不努力，暗地里很努力的另一个原因很可能是自信心不足，害怕面对自己的失败。如果一个人看起来非常努力了，但他没有考好，即他失败了，他的内心会有很大的挫折感，同时担心别人会笑话自己，觉得自己是个愚笨之人。
假装不努力则排除了这些风险。一个人假装不努力，给人的感觉是不投入的，如果他考不好，大家会说“因为他学习不努力，不投入，他才会失败，他其实人并不笨。”“他其实很聪明，只要他好好努力。”因为他一天中的大多数时间都没有努力，只是躲起来的一小部分时间努力，如果考不好，他也可以给自己的失败找一个理由：“我还没有全力以赴，如果我努力付出了，我就能获得成功。”这种幻想对于害怕失败的人来说是一个很大的内心安慰。对他们来说，假装不努力是保护自己免受失败打击的一个策略。
假装不努力也是很多学生面对学业竞争的一个应对方法，希望以自己不努力的外表麻痹与自己竞争的同学，使其松懈，这样自己偷偷努力就可以在竞争中获胜。这也许与我们的历史和集体主义的文化有关系。我们国家人口众多，人际关系复杂，为了生存，个体的竞争压力是很大的，为了在竞争中保护好自己，我们要在人群中隐藏好自己，以免锋芒太露，招来麻烦。中国有句谚语由来已久叫“闷声发大财”。百度百科的解释是：有时候不说话，不张扬却能够较好的维护和保障自己的利益。另外一种解释是：避免让别人知道自己在做什么，避免让别人看到自己赚得的利益，而让别人眼红、妒忌或者羡慕。在我看来，“闷声发大财”和“假装努力”有异曲同工之处。
每个人都渴望自己是完美的，渴望自己是那种不用努力就有所成就的天才，也渴望自己能在大家面前展现自己的完美，但是事实上，我们大多数人都是普通人，没有多少人是完美的天才，但是一个普通人的努力不仅一点也不丢脸的，还值得我们推崇和引以为傲。
我想起1995年在奥斯卡大获全胜的电影《阿甘正传》。阿甘智力低下，智商测试只有75（正常人的智商大多在85到115之间，70-80 介乎迟钝与低能之间，70分以下就属于低能），他的腿脚也不麻利，从小他就受到同学的孤立和侮辱，还经常遭到其他男孩的追打，阿甘为了躲避别人的伤害只有拼命奔跑。记得有个画面是这样的：阿甘被同学戏弄，唯一接纳他的女孩珍妮对他大喊：“你行的，快跑啊！”于是阿甘奋力奔跑，他是那样的努力奔跑着，不顾一切地跑着，他腿上的矫正器一一散落，他摆脱了束缚自己的枷锁，跑得风驰电掣，自由无比，令观者动容，内心深受震撼。
说到聪明，智力天生低下的阿甘是一点都沾不上边的，但是这个智商只有75的低能儿，通过自身的不懈努力，从要靠金属支架走路到飞奔如风成为大学橄榄球明星，从默默无闻成为街知巷闻的越战英雄、乒乓球外交大使，甚至是拥有十几条渔船的公司股东。他自强不息的精神也激励了无数的普通人。
如果我们的价值观推崇一个普通人的努力，哪怕他努力之后没有成功，但是他的努力依然能够被人认可，被人看见，被人点赞，那为了显示自己聪明，假装不努力，而暗地里努力的行为方式就会减少很多，人们也会自由和轻松很多。
如果我们懂得为自己而努力，学会脚踏实地，不在意他人的目光，不哗众取宠，不害怕失败，那我们就能更好地管理好自己，心无旁骛地奋斗，将自己带领到一个更美好的未来。
