一家专注于销售沥青的垂直电商网站，试图以基质沥青为切口，拓展沥青全产业链，上线5个月，销量9500万元，预计今年将突破两亿。
在移动互联时代，避免被巨头吞并或垄断的最佳方式，是重度垂直。专注于一个细分垂直领域，形成O2O闭环，成为护城河般的行业壁垒。

目前，这家名为“Mai沥青”的网站，已在沥青蓝海市场中站稳脚跟，他们如何做重度垂直？又如何形成O2O闭环？
1100亿的市场蛋糕
沥青行业的市场蛋糕有多大？据2014年的公开销量数据，是1100亿人民币。
沥青70%都用在建设道路，因为中国的道路每5到7年就需要维修一次，这个行业以每年9%的速度递增。
Mai沥青的CEO郑明刚估算，2015年沥青行业的市场份额，将达到1200亿以上。
这并不是一个小的市场，但之所以此前未能形成找钢网、找塑料网这样的垂直品类电商，很大一部分原因在于沥青是化工品类中最末端的产品，且其中大部分为政府招投标项目，已形成稳定而坚固的产业链，难以撼动。
但郑明刚看到行业依然有不少痛点，痛点就意味着市场。
沥青除了70%用作道路建设外，另外30%用在防水。防水企业购买沥青简直苦不堪言。沥青行业中的三巨头：中石油、中海油、中石化是主要的沥青销售者，他们的年销量都按照百万吨计算。因此，每次只购买100多吨的防水小企业，几乎不在他们的服务范围。
夏季是沥青的旺季，防水企业尚可以在一些沥青代理商处购买，倘若在冬季淡季，连购买的渠道都难以找寻。
正是基于如此认识，郑明刚切入400亿的沥青防水市场，做信息的匹配和服务。
盈利靠品类衍生
2015年6月23日，Mai沥青网站正式上线，不到5个月的时间，企业注册买家4000家，平台入驻卖家400家，其中甚至包括中海油，总销量达9500万元。
“发展非常快，这说明，行业确实有痛点。”郑明刚预估，今年突破2个亿没有问题，明年将达到20亿。
但行业的天花板是400亿，突破这个盘子意味着要打破行业规则，触碰招投标市场。一家创业公司显然没法撼动，郑明刚的突围方式——品类衍生。如果把沥青涉及的所有品类都加进来，市场非常巨大，仅防水一项的市场份额高达5000亿。
在郑明刚看来，化工垂直领域电商其实都是B2B，客单价高，毛利可观，比B2C电商盈利容易得多，比如找钢网，专注销售钢铁的电商平台，最小订单10万元起，与淘宝的“9.9包邮”不是一个量级。
在盈利模式上，Mai沥青现在主要靠收取服务费，每单交易收取一定额度费用。但这只是攻城略地阶段的权宜之计，郑明刚对未来有更多想象力。他在建好平台服务后，会打造自营链条获取更高收益。自营就意味着重度运营，仓储、物流、这些硬件设施一个都不能少。“虽然重，但这才是一个重度垂直电商的行业壁垒和核心竞争力”，郑明刚说。
除此之外，供应链金融，也是Mai沥青未来重点盈利点所在，不仅能够解决中小企业融资难的问题，促进行业发展，也会给平台带来可观收益。
从巨头剥离
纵观垂直化工品类电商，无非两种模式。找钢网和上海钢联是典型代表，两者虽都有自己的电商网站，但性质完全不同。找钢网是纯电商平台，上海钢联则是传统企业向电商的过渡。
最近，找钢网宣布销量突破两千亿，而另一边，上海钢联又曝出2015年上半年亏损1个多亿。因此，行业内对于传统行业转型垂直电商并不太看好，认为“基因决定了模式最终的成败”。
Mai沥青的身世有些奇特。其前身是沥青代理商兆华集团的官网，后因为网上销量不错，单独成立了互联网公司，转型做沥青产业平台电商。
在发展上，兆华集团这位“干爹”，确实给Mai起到了重要的提携作用。兆华集团原有的物流、仓储链条，全方位打开为Mai沥青服务，为Mai建设自营链条，打下基础。
郑明刚认为，因沥青的专业性，后来者追赶建设一套自营物流体系，起码需要3年，这就形成了较高的行业壁垒，这也是为什么大部分人无法进入沥青蓝海的原因——起点太高，前期投资过大。
但这种传统行业的基因，在未来是否会制约Mai沥青的发展，现在尚未可知。不过郑明刚认为，现在Mai完全脱离兆华集团，独立运营，未来也不会受其影响。
