我们都是用玉米、胡萝卜、金银花、蒲公英来喂养鸡，还喂专门的药材和红糖，所以这样产出来的鸡蛋营养价值高，味道又清香。”云南省曲靖市会泽县艮长养殖有限公司股东王发东说。
云报集团全媒体报道组来到了会泽县艮长养殖有限公司，刚到门口就远远地看到了红墙上写着“吃中草药，下生态蛋”的宣传语，据王发东介绍，养鸡厂是从2011年5月投资40余万建成的，占地30亩，之所以选择金银花、胡萝卜等特别的饲料养殖，是因为既可以减少饲料、防疫等费用，又生态环保。
王发东曾是一名普通的护林员，后来转行投身养殖业，由于喂养方法和市场的双重影响，刚开始也“碰了一鼻子的灰”。“刚开始是传统养殖，加上2011年、2012年市场大环境影响，效果不是很好。2012年是我最困难的时候，那时候说夸张点连进城都不敢，真的连过路费都给不起。”王发东笑着感叹到。
现如今养鸡厂有10个工作人员，都是当地的村民，养鸡厂的发展不仅给王发东的生活带来了很大的变化，也给当地村民带来了一定的影响，据王发东介绍，养鸡厂还为当地的养殖户提供疫苗和技术指导，带动了近百户村民一起养鸡致富。
目前养鸡厂生产的鸡蛋通过经销商收购后，远销上海、北京等地，很受欢迎，“我们在上海还有一个代销点，同时还通过朋友介绍等，用微信、QQ等形式来销售鸡蛋，不再产蛋的鸡则销售给餐馆。”王发东说，由于生态鸡蛋味道好，营养价值高，因此每枚鸡蛋的售价也比一般鸡蛋贵3角钱，接下来按照市场情况，养鸡厂还会适当扩大规模。
“明年我们还要用发酵料养猪，这样一来每年还能增加4—5万的收入。”对于以后的发展，王发东说，“我很有信心！”
