从2023年1月10日起，微软停止了对Windows7和Windows8.1的所有支持。二者不会再有更新和安全补丁等，成为被终结的过去产品。
Windows 7 发布于2009年10月；2015年1月13日，微软正式终止了对Windows 7的主流支持，但仍然继续为Windows 7提供安全补丁支持；2020年1月14日，微软停止对Windows 7系统的技术支持、软件更新和安全问题修复，但允许企业用户通过付费的方式订阅安全补丁。
Windows 8.1 的主流支持于 2018 年 1 月 9 日停止，而扩展支持将会持续到 2023 年 1 月 10 日。微软表示该日期之后所有的支持都会停止。
微软 Windows 10 的支持结束日期为 2025 年 10 月 14 日。
Windows7/8.1预计本周退出历史舞台！
随着Windows11的发布，微软1月10日本周二将结束Windows7付费外延扩展支持，即不再提供安全补丁。同时Windows8.1本身就没有付费外延扩展功能，也不会开发此功能提供安全补丁。
即以上两个版本将退出历史舞台，逐步被Windows11代替。（Windows10预计在2025年也将逐步退出）

微软公司在新年之际，Windows7操作系统结束ESU，正式退出我们熟悉的历史舞台，同时，Win8.1也不会提供ESU服务。
对于企业用户来说，即便想再掏钱，微软也不会再下发安全补丁了。
Windows11作为替代方案，使用客户可通过购买和安装完整版本的软件升级到Windows10，不过，微软更希望用户升到Windows11，因为Windows10将于2025年1月14日结束支持。
就目前看，Windows10的性能表现优于Windows11，很多用户不想立即升的级。
